Role Details:

We’re looking for someone who is excited about the possibility of joining our team as an offshore apprentice. Our three-year programme offers the opportunity for on the job learning and unique work experiences. Throughout your course, you’ll see how your studies relate to real life scenarios, such as programming and mechanical assembly, bringing your learning to life.

We need someone who is passionate about our industry and who is excited to learn about renewable technology. You’ll need four GCSEs at grades A-C / 4 – 9 (or equivalent) in Maths, English and a Science. As you’ll spend time working on our offshore windfarm, you’ll need to be a competent swimmer and comfortable operating at heights.

You’ll be studying Level 3 Mechatronics Pathway at East Coast College, and working from our Lowestoft site, so you should live within 30km of Lowestoft. If you’d consider relocating for this opportunity, you’ll be responsible for your own accommodation and expenses.

Ideally you’ll also have a driving licence as you’ll need to get to different sites during your training period. If you don’t have a driving licence, you will be required to obtain one as soon as possible.

In line with legislation, we’re obliged to ensure potential employees are eligible to work in the UK. Therefore, all candidates must be able to provide this documentation at assessment stage. Due to Brexit, from January 2021, this includes citizens of the EU, EEA and Switzerland.

Selection Process:

  • Online Testing - If your CV meets the above criteria you will be asked to complete online tests which measure numerical reasoning and mechanical comprehension.
  • Video Interview - If you pass the online testing you will be asked to submit a video interview.
  • Assessment Centre - Successful applicants will then be invited to an assessment centre.

The assessment centre will include an exercise which includes swimming and treading water, so you need to be a competent swimmer. There’s also a climbing assessment where you’ll be asked to climb a tower then carry out an activity, so you’ll need to be comfortable operating at heights. The assessment centre is expected to be held one weekend in early July.

  • Interview – If you perform well at the assessment centre you may be invited to an interview with managers from our SPR business.

Rewards and Benefits:

Join the ScottishPower team and you’ll enjoy a variety of benefits and rewards, including an attractive starting salary of £16,000 as well as the following:

  • Stakeholder pension scheme
  • Generous holiday entitlement
  • A range of employee discounts
  • Access to professional medical staff through our occupational health department
